Pseudoviruses, much like the name insinuates are altered viruses. They are “like” their wild-type or live virus counterparts but are engineered by biochemists to make them safer to handle for lab experimentation. Biochemists engineer pseudoviruses with the necessary coding for host cells to express important proteins and cellular components of a virus omitting the blueprints for the virus to replicate. This enables their use for interaction, inhibition, and neutralization studies without then need for high level biosafety requirements.
While pseudoviruses infect the host cell (i.e. immortal cell-line such as HEK293) and those cells will express a non-infectious variant of the coded virus, the construct used to develop pseudoviruses lack the proper coding for the virus to replicate.
You do not require special paperwork, but your lab must be certified as a BSL-2 lab to handle and experiment with these reagents.
Your lab manager, department leaders, or your institution's safety and regulatory departments will have this information for you.
Yes. Please note that countries have special requirements to import and handle BSL-2 reagents. Check with your local government or contact an authorized ProSci Inc. distributor on special handling and/or requirements for your laboratory.

All staining images are done with paraffin-embedded tissue sections unless otherwise noted.
We are still in the process of characterizing our antibodies for this application. If a particular antibody has been tested for IHC and passed our quality control, there will be an image on the data sheet.
Most antigen information is proprietary and not available for the general public. If you have questions about predicted cross-reactivity, please send the target sequence to [email protected] and we will be happy to perform an alignment for you.
For our Western blots we use reducing agents, however, either method can be used.
We cannot prepare small quantities of custom lysates at this time. Orders of several milligrams may be accepted on a case by case basis determined by tissue availability.
Yes. All five slides are from the same donor.
ProSci does not offer frozen tissue slides at this time.
Yes, please see our standard protocols for a variety of assays such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence (tissue sections), and immunofluorescence (fixed cells), and ELISA here.
Because of the diversity of products we currently offer, this is no longer a simple answer. Each product's data sheet and/or the product label will contain the recommended storage conditions.
We only sell products (i.e. slides and lysates) made from cell lines, not the actual cell lines themselves.
