- The protein encoded by this gene is similar to E-typenucleotidases (NTPases)/ecto-ATPase/apyrases. NTPases, such asCD39, mediate catabolism of extracellular nucleotides. ENTPD5contains 4 apyrase-conserved regions which is characteristic ofNTPases.
