Cancer Antibodies: p53 Network Antibodies
p53, also known as tumor protein 53 (TP53) is regulator of the cell cycle and functions as a tumor suppressor. p53 acts as a transcription factor, whose function is activation of DNA damage repair mechanisms when DNA is damaged, initiation of apoptosis if the DNA damage is not repairable, as well as holding the cell at a G1/S checkpoint if DNA damage is recognized. Mutations in p53 have been documented in over half of all human tumors.
ProSci offers a variety of p53 antibodies and p53 network antibodies. These include antibodies against p53 (TP53), p53 associated Parkin-like cytoplasmic protein (Parc), p53 ribonucleotide reductase (p53R2), and a phospho-specific antibody against phosphorylated Serine 392 (Ser392) of p53. Parc is an important regulator of p53. Parc sequesters p53 to the cytoplasm of cells, preventing it from being transported into the nucleus where p53 functions as a transcription factor. p53R2 is regulated by p53, and supplies nucleotides to repair damaged DNA.
ProSci antibodies are appropriate for ELISA, western blot, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications as noted for each p53 antibody.
