Infectious Disease Antibodies: Virus Related Antibodies

Viruses are microscopic particles which are made up of both genetic material and proteins. The genetic material can be either DNA or RNA, and can be single stranded or double stranded. Viruses cause many different illnesses, including colds, influenza, chicken pox, hepatitis, Ebola, AIDS, avian influenza and SARS.

Uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG) can be either localized to the mitochondria (mitochondrial uracil-DNA glycosylase, UNG1) or to the nucleus (nuclear uracil-DNA glycosylase, UNG2). Uracil-DNA glycosylase is a major enzyme in the excision repair pathway, and is responsible for removal of uracil residues from DNA which were either incorrectly incorporated or were generated as a result of cytosine deamination.

Transient receptor potential-canonical 3 (TRPC3) is activated by PLC coupled receptors as well as diacylglycerol analogs. It is a Ca(2+) permeant channel that is agonist activated. Transient receptor potential-canonical 3 (TRPC3) also interacts with myxovirus (influenza virus) resistance 1 (MxA), which is responsible for a specific activational state against influenza virus infection.

Cytoplasmic helicase retinoic acid inducible gene protein-1 (RIG-1) recognizes double stranded RNA which is associated with viral infections. Retinoic acid inducible gene protein-1 (RIG-1) is required for production of interferions in response to RNA viruses and inhibits signaling pathways of Ras/mitogen activated protein kinases.

ProSci has many virus related antibodies, including antibodies to the proteins mentioned here. ProSci’s virus related antibodies include antibodies against mitochondrial uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG1), nuclear uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG2), transient receptor potential-canonical 3 (TRPC3) and the cytoplasmic helicase retinoic acid inducible gene protein-1 (RIG-1). ProSci antibodies and appropriate for ELISA, western blot, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications as noted for each virus related antibody.
