Infectious Disease Antibodies: Parasite Antibodies
Parasites survive on their host species and either cause no damage, or can cause disease. ProSci offers antibodies to Taxoplasma gondii which is the parasitic protozoa which causes taxoplasmosis. Taxoplasmosis disease is usually hosted in the cat, but can transfer to humans where it can have severe or deadly consequences on a developing fetus. Also, we have parasite antibodies against Giardia lamblia which is a flagellate protozoan which can cause giardiasis, also known as beaver feaver, and is a common cause of gastroenteritis. Cryptosporidium parvum is anoter parasite which causes cryptosporidiosis, a severe diarrhea which can cause death in immunocompromised patients. Cryptosporidium parvum is one of the most common waterborne diseases in the world. Finally, ProSci has antibodies against canine heartworm which is a growing concern in veterinary sciences.
Many of the parasite antibodies that ProSci offers are available with multiple tags including fluorescein, peroxidase and biotin. Parasite antibodies have been extensively tested for cross reactivity across multiple strains, and all the specificity information for the parasite antibodies can be found on each parasite antibody datasheet webpage. Links to all parasite antibodies can be found below and on the following pages. ProSci antibodies are appropriate for ELISA, western blot, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications as noted for each parasite antibody.
