Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, accounting for more than half of all cases. The clinical characteristics at the microscopic level include neuritic plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the medial temporal lobe structures and cortical areas of the brain coupled with a more general degeneration of the neurons and synapses. Amyloid beta (Aβ) is the major component of these neuritic plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. Amyloid beta is a cleavage product of the amyloid precursor protein (APP), and hyperphosphorylated tau, an axonal protein that normally promotes microtubule assembly and stability.
ProSci offers a variety of Alzheimer’s antibodies. These include antibodies against beta-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme (BACE) and p53 upregulated modulator of apoptosis (PUMA). Additionally, ProSci offers an Alzheimer’s disease Protein Detection Set and a wide variety of Alzheimer’s tissue lysates for use in Alzheimer’s research. ProSci antibodies are appropriate for ELISA, western blot, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications as noted for each Alzheimer’s antibody.
