Background
Acetylcholinesterase is involved in termination of signal transmission at neuromuscular junctions. Differences in assembly and localization of the multiple synaptic forms of acetylcholinesterase are thought to arise through posttranscriptional events. The Yt erythrocyte blood group antigen system resides on the acetylcholinesterase molecule.
