Primary Antibodies
ATG5 Antibody
Background
ATG5 is required for the process of autophagy, an intracellular process for bulk degradation of cytoplasmic components. ATG5 conjugates to ATG12 and associates with isolation membranes to form autophagosomes. The autophagosomes then enclose cytoplasmic components and deliver them to lysosomes/vacuoles to be degraded. ATG5 has been shown to be involved in apoptosis with expression late in the apoptotic process downstream of caspase activity.
